Source Suggestions for Prints

Snapshots

Glossy prints work best.  Scan your own and just send the file for fastest service.  Or mail the photo & we'll scan it (we'll mail it back with your order, but please don't send us anything irreplaceable in case of loss or damage in mailing!).  We suggest you submit most photos at 150 to 300 pixels per inch.  For more information, see the scanning table.  See important discussion of limitations of digital cameras. The preferred file format is JPEG (.jpg) with "normal" compression.  For more photo ideas see our best-of page.

Art & Artifacts

If your art will fit in your scanner, you can make very high quality prints of it!  It also works pretty well to take a photo of it and scan the photo.  This even works for things that aren't flat!

Image Files

Files from digital cameras or computer-generated graphics will work.  To figure how large you can print a given file size, see the image size recommendations tableThe preferred file format is JPEG (.jpg) with "normal" compression.  For computer-generated graphics with areas of solid color (e.g. charts) you may also send us a GIF (.gif) file.  For images, GIF's may lose color resolution, and are usually too large to send through e-mail.  We can accept very large files, but contact us first and we'll provide special procedures.

Presentation, Document or Vector Graphics Files

If you want to print PowerPoint(TM) charts or similar material that fit straightforwardly in one of our standard sizes, we can do this for you.  If you require business class services, such as large quantities (more than 2 or 3), expedited service, overnight delivery, color proof sheets, special margins, special paper, etc. then please contact us with a description of your requirements so we can evaluate your needs and quote the correct price for your service.  Also, please contact us before sending vector graphics files (e.g. metafiles, .wmf, etc.) to see if we can handle your format.

NOTE: Satisfaction guarantee applies only to single-print consumer orders!  Businesses are expected to try out our service and determine suitability before ordering larger quantities of prints.  Thank you!
